I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal ($95 for 2 hours of electrical work). I pre-paid the first 4 hours this way. WireMasters contacted me within the hour to initiate scheduling. Richard and his assistant did the original whole house electrical safety inspection. They were very thorough and showed me the items that needed to be replaced or upgraded.
After I received the first estimate, I elected to concentrate on the external work needed (including replacing the rusted outside electrical panel). After the contract was signed and they received the 50% deposit, Kent Crook, the President of Wiremasters personally came by the house with the city permits for me to sign. A few days later, Richard and his assistant Carlos began work on the project. The work lasted about two days to complete. Happily, I was without power for less than 8 hours throughout the project. Richard & Carlos did a great job and I will use Wiremasters for any future electrical work (and I'll ask for Richard).

I experienced an electrical problem when testing my generator that resulted in a powersurge damaging several thousand dollars of electrical appliances. Kent came out to my house himself, on time, an identified the problem as a loose connection in the generator cable. Hey Kent and Rich,

We gave the Interlock and Honda a try yesterday and they work great. The Interlock did just what Rich said. I powered up the 12,000 BTU portable A/C, two TVs w/satellite boxes, two big fans, several incandescent lights, the big refrigerator and the Honda didn't overload until I fired up the microwave but recovered in a few seconds and started output again! Of course this was just a test, 40% more current than I ever need to generate (don't tell the people next door). Erik looked over all our recessed lights. He determined we needed a couple new transformers and also checked all twenty five or so sockets to make sure they had power and what watt and volt they were. I had been putting off this job for nearly a year, watching all my recessed lights go out, some which never worked. Every time I tried to fix them they'd pop. I joined Angie's List to find someone for this job that would speak English and not rip me off. Erik called an hour ahead to let me know he's on his way. He looked at all our lights and determined we need a couple transformers and three different types of bulbs. He also informed us that whoever did the work before we bought the condo did a really shoddy job. He fixed everything, was super knowledgeable, friendly and we would definitely call him again. He even spoke to the Home Depot guy on my cell as I tried to find the right bulbs. I'm so happy to have lighting in the laundry and pantry area and to know everything is set up correctly! Thank you!

 Thank you for your timely reminder regarding having the couplers in the electrical panel checked in Crossings homes. When we noticed the piece printed in the latest "The Crossings Signal", by KC Electrical Services, we thought we would take advantage of the free estimate offered. For comparison purposes, we also asked another local company to come look at things, for which they charged us $65 (instead of the usual $85) because they were already attending to something at the house next-door to us. The two quotes weren't hugely different, (maybe $200), but we decided to go with the more expensive one, KC, because we were quite impressed by the professionalism of the Larry, the young man who did the estimate, plus the very good informative website the company has. Also, they charge by the job, so we had more of an idea how much to budget for. As it turned out, there was a challenge getting the heavy copper wire from the ceiling to the power meter, and if we had been paying by the hour, it would have been very worrying. As it is, we feel we got excellent value for our money. Our electrical panel was in bad shape, with considerable and very obvious scorching, plus burnt ends on the wires, plus a loose connection which was sparking on one of them. This really needed attending to. BTW, KC gave a three year warranty on their work. We are very satisfied with them. Thanks again for helping us avert a possible fire in our home.
